Founding-family waitlists for new microschools
You do not need a finished handbook to collect serious interest. You do need one honest page: who you are building for, roughly when you open, what a founding seat might cost, and a waitlist form that does not die in a group chat.
Founding energy fades when parents only hear updates in a noisy thread.
What to publish before you are “ready”
- One-paragraph vision (ages, model: pod, hybrid, classical, etc.) - Target open term or month (even if approximate) - Planned days and hours — label estimates as estimates - Seat target (for example, 12 founding seats) - Deposit or interest-hold rule — only if you are truly ready to take money - What happens if you delay or do not open - How you will contact the list (email, not only Facebook) - A form: parent names, child ages, neighborhood or zip, questions
If you are not ready for deposits, say “interest only — no payment yet.” Do not half-collect money in Venmo notes without a written rule.
Waitlist etiquette
First-in is not always first-seated if ages or balance matter. Say how you prioritize. Silent reordering feels like politics.
When a seat opens, give a clear accept window. Ghosting a founding family once trains them not to trust you. A short email template (“Seat available — reply by Friday”) beats another vague story post.
CCCM working site
A rented public page is enough for vision + waitlist + later Register.
- $149 first month, then $99/month, three-month minimum - We build and run it - When you take deposits, families pay **you** direct — CCCM never holds funds - Checkout: https://www.getcccm.com/checkout - Sports or club add-ons: https://www.getcccm.com/sports
Ops desk software can wait until you have a roster worth operating. Academy OS is talk-first: https://www.getcccm.com/academy-os — no public OS price.
Invented sample (not a client)
“Cedar Micro Founding List (invented) publishes a fall target, ages 6–10, twelve seats, interest form only until June, then a deposit page with refund rules if the cohort does not fill.” Invented — not a live microschool.
Do not oversell the unfinished parts
Curriculum brand, facility address, and teacher bios can arrive later. Fake certainty on a waitlist page creates refund drama. Label unknowns. Parents prefer an honest “TBD facility — tour in May” to a stock photo of a building you do not have.
Do not invent co-founders, waiting lists of “hundreds,” or press mentions that did not happen.
From waitlist to enroll
When you are ready, the same site flips from interest to Register: packages, deposit, photo release, emergency contacts. You should not rebuild on a new builder the week before open house. Founding families already bookmarked your URL — keep it.
Communication cadence
Promise a monthly update while founding, then keep the promise. Silence is louder than a short “still on track for August; facility tour dates coming.” The site can hold a dated status line so you are not only living in Instagram stories that disappear.
Plain next step
If a working public Register site is what you need, start at https://www.getcccm.com/checkout or email hello@getcccm.com with your school or club name, city, and what you run. If you need staff-desk ops instead, use https://www.getcccm.com/academy-os and expect a conversation — not a self-serve price button.
