Faith-based school stuck on Facebook: how families find you (or do not)

A parish school or Christian microschool can have a kind Facebook community and still be invisible to the family who will never join the group.

They search the school name. They open Maps. They ask a friend from church who “thinks there is a page.” If the only door is a feed, many of them do not walk through it.

This is not an argument against Facebook. It is an argument for a Register URL **outside** the feed.

How families actually look

- Google the school or “Christian school near [city]” - Open the Maps pin and tap Website - Ask in a church lobby, then type whatever is on the flyer - Follow a friend’s share — then look for tuition and a form

Grandparents helping with the search may not have the app. Relocating parents may not want to request to join a private group to see last year’s packet.

Algorithms change. Pages get restricted. Your enrollment should not depend on a feed.

What Facebook cannot be

- A stable URL for a bulletin or a yard sign - A place to finish photo release and emergency contacts without Messenger - A tuition page that is not buried under two years of lunch photos - The website field on Maps (technically it can be — practically it signals informal)

Keep the community posts. Move enroll, deposit, tour RSVP, and “how to pay us” to a site you control.

Faith-specific bounce

A family new to town often wants to know you exist **before** they visit worship. If the only proof is a members-only group, you have filtered for insiders. That may be your intent. If it is not, you need a public door.

State your faith identity on the public site in plain language. Do not hide it. Do not hide the Register button behind it either.

Claim the listing. Use the real school name. Put the working site in the website field. Add the entrance photo. Reply to reviews without arguing theology in the comment thread.

You do not need a marketing department. You need the pin and the URL to agree.

What to post after the site is live

Open house dates with a link. Enrollment deadlines with a link. A short “what the deposit holds” post with a link. Stop answering basic facts only in DMs.

Honest limits

We do not invent live church URLs or fake revival-style testimonials. Your photos, your name, your city. If we show a sample look, it is labeled invented.
