Academy OS is not a website — and that is the point

People ask for “a website that also does attendance, clearance, travel lists, and coach permissions.” That sentence describes two products mashed into one muddy project. Academy OS is deliberately **not** a public website. It is a staff desk. The public Register site is a different door.

Talk-first. Quote after conversation. No online checkout for Academy OS. No public OS price. https://www.getcccm.com/academy-os

What a website is for

A CCCM working site (separate product) is the public storefront:

- Who you are and what you run - Season packages, tryouts, camps - Fees paid to **your** school or academy - Waivers at signup - Maps, parking, coach bios parents trust before they deposit

Families finish on a phone without joining your staff software.

What Academy OS is for

- Who showed up - Who is cleared - Mid-season roster moves - Travel-weekend composition - Staff permissions and notes

Coaches open it to run the day. Strangers should not need an account to learn your tuition range.

Why mixing them hurts

When you force ops into a website builder:

- Taking attendance stays clumsy - Permissions are basically “who has the website login” - You fear updating marketing because you might break the roster - Parents see staff-only clutter — or staff hide enrollment behind login walls

When you force marketing into heavy ops software:

- Prospects bounce - Simple Register takes months - You overbuy before you have a public URL

Clear products beat wishful all-in-one tools.

Buying order without shame

Most programs need the public door first. Some already enroll fine and drown in spreadsheets — those should talk Academy OS now. Many eventually want both: site takes the seat; desk runs the season. We will not pretend one product is the other.

Invented sample (not a client)

“Fieldhouse United Academy (invented) spent a year trying to make a builder template track clearance and still look like a brochure. They split the problem: rented a public Register site for fall, then opened an Academy OS conversation for staff ops.” Invented — not a live academy.

Process honesty

Academy OS has no buy-online price button because scope varies — locations, sports, athletic-homeschool weekly needs, parent-view appetite. We talk, then quote. That is on purpose.

How to talk about it with your board

Boards often say “we need a better website” when they mean “we need enrollment and ops to stop leaking.” Translate: public door vs staff desk. Approve the product that matches the pain. Approving a muddy hybrid usually funds delay.

Sales language to reject

If a vendor says their “website includes full ops and SIS and recruiting,” ask which job ships first and what parents see without a login. Vague all-in-one promises usually mean delay.

Plain next step

If you need staff-desk ops, start at https://www.getcccm.com/academy-os with program name, city, and the daily pain (attendance, clearance, travel, permissions). Expect a conversation. If you need the public Register half instead, say so — we will point you to the working-site path without dressing it up as OS.
